WACOSA, a nonprofit organization serving adults with disabilities, announced today it is the proud recipient of a $20,000 grant from Benton Telecommunications Foundation and $5,000 grant from CentraCare Health Foundation. The dollars will fund a Wellness to Work program, helping clients overcome barriers to work by offering health and wellness activities.
“WACOSA observes a wide variety of client work limitations due to illness, weight challenges, lack of endurance, strength and the like,” says Steve Howard, WACOSA Executive Director. “The support we have received from Benton Telecommunications Foundation and CentraCare Health Foundation for the Wellness to Work program will help us to better serve adults with disabilities, offering them access to health and wellness activities that would otherwise not be available to them. We anticipate this program will not only help the people we serve overcome barriers to work, but also improve their overall health status, boosting self-esteem and quality of life.”
WACOSA modeled its Wellness to Work activities after the success of a similar program at a day training and habilitation organization in Florida.
