Activities Assistant:

Assist staff members to:

  • Implement scheduled activities from the weekly calendar.
  • Set up and clean up activities and assist the clients with carrying out the activities.
  • Teach the clients information you are knowledgeable and passionate about.
  • Shifts available Monday through Friday between 8:45am - 4pm at all WACOSA sites, to include: 320 Sundial Drive, Waite Park, MN, 1527 Northway Drive, St. Cloud, MN, or 712 Lincoln Loop, Sauk Centre, MN.
  • Minimum 2 hours per month commitment preferred.

Environmental Projects Assistant:

  • Assist in projects to enhance the quality of the environment for the benefit of clients. Examples are painting, landscaping, gardening, patio design and care, etc.
  • Assist with vehicle checks and care to insure safe and comfortable transportation for clients and staff members. 
  • Assist in the development of adaptations for clients to increase their ability to complete paid work and interact in non-paid projects and activities. 
  • Assist with accessible equipment adjustments and minor repairs. 
  • Must have experience with basic shop procedures, yard equipment and tools. 
  • Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds along with intermittent bending, twisting and reaching. 
  • Ability to stand for up to four hours while performing tasks. 
  • Shifts available Monday through Friday between 6am and 2pm at 320 Sundial Drive, Waite Park, MN
  • NOTE - A driver's license and health card are required to drive WACOSA vehicles but is not nexessary to fulfill this position. 

Curriculum Assistant:

  • Utilize basic computer skills to assist with the development of new and maintenance of existing task boxes, individual sensory bins, and cirriculum activities. (This may involve accessing the internet, cutting and pasting images, saving documents into proper folders, and basic typing.)
  • Utilize basic digital camera skills to assist with the development of new and maintenance of existing task boxes, sensory bins, and cirriculum activities. (This may include taking photographs, saving photographs on the computer, laminating and printing photographs.) 
  • Assist with preparing materials needed for client classes such as sewing, gardening, musical therapy, creative movements, etc. 
  • Shifts are available Monday through Friday between 8:30am - 4pm, at 320 Sundial Drive, Waite Park, MN.

Musical Therapy Provider:

  • Provide musical entertainment to clients for a period of 1-2 hours. 
  • Previous examples are acoustic guitar, accordion, piano and electric organ.
  • WACOSA has an electric organ at the Waite Park location which may be utilized.
  • Shifts available Monday through Friday between 8:45am - 4pm at all WACOSA sites, to include: 320 Sundial Drive, Waite Park, MN, 1527 Northway Drive, St. Cloud, MN, or 712 Lincoln Loop, Sauk Centre, MN.
  • One hour per month or greater time commitment preferred.

Mender/Sewer/Class Instruction:

  • Utilize sewing skills to create new and repair existing shirt-savers, weighted vests, weighted blankets and other alteration requests. (This can be done at your home).
  • Conduct or assist with sewing classes for clients.
  • Time commitment can range from approximately four to twelve hours per month.

Recycling Assistant:

  • Assist with preparing recycling for clients by cleaning and sorting recycling materials.
  • Sort recycling materials according to type (plastics and glass) and remove any garbage.
  • Sweep and mop floor and clean sink area.
  • Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (flexibility available for start time). Shift may be shorter or longer depending on materials available.
  • This volunteer opportunity is available at 320 Sundial Drive in Waite Park, MN.

Retail Assistant at ThriftWorks!:

  • Assist staff members and clients with sorting and pricing merchandise, store stocking, customer service, donation drop-off and helping to maintain pleasant environment for customers.
  • Minimum 2 hour scheduled shift per week.
  • This opportunity is available at 310 Sundial Drive in Waite Park, MN.

Special Event Support:

  • Time commitment varies depending on event.
  • Events include, but are not limited to, fundraising events, staff trainings and conferences, client celebrations, etc.

Wellness Assistant:

  • Assist the staff memebers in teaching WACOSA's clients creative and stimulating workouts of varying ability levels as wella s healthy eating skills. These include activities and classes such as aerobics, yoga, walking, meditation, making smoothies and healthy choices while eating. 
  • Shifts are available Monday through Friday at various times, depending on class schedules. This volunteer position is available at 320 Sundial Drive in Waite Park, MN.
