The Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation (MOHR) presented Senator Aric Putnam with the MOHR Making a Difference Award on Friday, October 13th, 2023, at St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN. Senator Putnam was the chief author of Senate Bill 1271 which increases Minnesota’s Extended Employment funding by five million dollars over the next two years.
This support by Senator Putnam offers 1000s of Minnesotans with disabilities the opportunity to gain and maintain careers and jobs in their communities, with the support needed to be successful. Extended Employment funding is a cornerstone of that success, and the increase in funding will ensure a win-win employment relationship for all involved.
Nancy Betts, WACOSA Executive Director, was given the honor of presenting the award to Senator Putnam. Betts states, “It was good to be at St. John’s University to present this award to Senator Putnam. St. Johns and St. Benedict’s University have had decades-long partnerships with WACOSA and employ people with disabilities. The Universities are a prime example of the type of partnership that Extended Employment helps to support.”
A big thank you to Senator Putnam for his ongoing support of people with disabilities, thank you to St. John’s University for giving the space to present this award, and finally, thank you to everyone who came out to show support to Senator Putnam.
