Sara, who has been with WACOSA for 19 years, was the proud and thankful recipient of a laptop computer.  DJ and Bev of Advocating Change Together presented the computer to Sara in November 2023.

Sara said that she is happy to have her own computer. She said that at home they are working on logging in and out, and how to store it safely when not in use.  Sara confides, “I love the computer and I’m happy I have it.  Right now, I’m mostly using it for (WACOSA’s) Connect Academy classes.”

Bev shares the details of the gift, “The goal of our Disability Integration Project through Advocating Change Together’s Olmstead Academy is to provide access to technology for people with disabilities so they can stay connected to family, friends, church, social and medical services as well as Self-Advocacy learning opportunities. Presentations were made to area service organizations to fund the project.

Sara’s laptop, one of three, was purchased with a donation from the St. Cloud Knights of Columbus, Chapter 961.  Special thanks to AchieveCare who made it possible for the KC funding to cover the three refurbished laptops along with technical support!”

Thank you, from all of us at WACOSA to DJ, Bev, Advocating Change Together Olmstead Academy, and St. Cloud Knights of Columbus, Chapter 961, for your ongoing advocacy and support for people with disabilities.
